One of the things about these lingering undead blogs is that, if you stumble upon them, you never know -- did they stop posting? Is it just a really long hiatus? What's going on here?

What is going on here is this: as part of reviving the BSFFC website I also started a blog just to see what would happen.

If you look at the post history, you can see what happened.

So, now it's happened. I think it's all that's going to happen. But the website remains up, and the meeting reminders still go to the BSFFC LiveJournal community (when I remember to post them).

Goodbye Robert Lynn Asprin

Robert Lynn Asprin, author of (among other things) the MythAdventures books, died on Thursday May 22. I did not know that he lived in New Orleans, nor did I know that he was writing again.

I remember the Myth books fondly from my college years.

Norwescon 2008 -- Day 1

Several Bellingham (and former Bellingham) Science Fiction people attended Norwescon, and we have photographic proof!

Jessica fought the Dark Side...

And, defeated (or seduced by cookies) took an oath of loyalty.

Mike decided not to bother fighting first.

While Echo, already a Dark Side member, worked on converting the stormtroopers into a chorus line.

Alma Alexander reading at Village Books

Alma Alexander will be reading from her book Spellspam, at Village Books, on April 2 at 7 pm. More here.

This is the second in a trilogy about Thea Winthrop, begun with Gift of the Unmage.

I highly recommend these books. They are coming of age stories with rich use of Native American mythology and history.

From the description of Gift of the Unmage:

Thursday Meeting -- March 6 -- Beaver Inn

Remember, the next meeting is at The Beaver Inn, 1315 N State St, at 7 pm.

It was at the Beav that we determined our lovely and amazing meeting calendar. It involved dangerdaisy, a complete set of gaming dice, and a couple of pitchers of Pabst Blue Ribbon.

Gary "D & D" Gygax is dead at age 69

From Wired: Gary Gygax, one of the co-creators of the Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game, died Tuesday morning at his home in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, according to Stephen Chenault, CEO of Troll Lord Games.
